Fraudsters are getting more convincing, and one of the latest tactics is called call spoofing. This happens when scammers make it look like WSSC FCU’s phone number is calling you, even though it’s really a fraudster on the other end.
A common scam involves the caller claiming there’s suspicious activity on your debit card. They may ask for your full debit card number and then say they’re sending you a text message to “verify” or “close” your card. That text often contains a security code the scammer wants you to share.
Here’s the important thing to remember:
WSSC FCU will never call and ask for your full debit card number, PIN, or security verification codes by text.
If you receive a suspicious call:
Hang up immediately
Do not share card details or verification codes
Call WSSC FCU directly using the number on your card or our official website
When in doubt, pause and verify. A few extra moments could protect your account and your money.
